Worst home run call ever
The Giants’ spring training game against the Texas Rangers earlier this month featured possibly the worst home run call in the history of home run calls. In the top of the 4th inning with nobody out, the Rangers commentators were talking to Patrick Mendoza, the Senior Communications Manager of Capital One Bank. Michael Kirkman of the Rangers was pitching to Andrew Susac and, with the count at 2–2, the San Francisco catcher hit one over the fence in left-centre field to give the Giants the lead. Here’s how Mendoza called it:
“Absolutely, so last year, we signed a multi-year agreement to be the official bank of the Texas Rangers.”
If there was ever a case to advise someone not to give up their day job, this would be it. Sorry, Patrick.
